I. What is Stage Machinery

Stage machinery is the mechanical equipment used in stage performance to help present the content of the script.

This is a new equipment which combines mechatronics and stage performance art. It mainly adopts modern mechanical equipment and electrical technology. Through the lighting effect of automatic control system, the stage is full of artistic sense. The design of reasonable mechanical stage control system can guarantee the stability and safety of stage equipment.

II. Classification of Stage Machinery

(1) Location Classification

1. Mechanical equipment on stage: fireproof isolation curtain, large screen, false stage opening, crane rod, single-point crane, flying mechanism, lighting bridge, lighting cage, lighting bracket, lighting rod, stage curtain machine, lifting screen frame, scene transport crane, etc.

2. Mechanical equipment for stage operations: orchestra pit lifting railings, orchestra pit lifting platforms, stage lifting platforms, compensating lifting platforms, auxiliary lifting systems, actor lifting carts, stage set transport equipment, stage vehicle platforms, telescopic platforms, stage revolving platforms, and vehicle-mounted revolving platforms.

(2) Functional Classification

1. Creating the Stage Machinery of the Performance of the Bow and Arrow

The equipment includes the stage, the auditorium, the form of the audience, the mechanical to change the relationship between the audience and the performance, and the stage machinery for installing the lights, realizing the sound position and other conditions to create the performance. III. The Role of Stage Machinery

(1) Scene transition

On auxiliary stages (e.g., side stages), sets can be pre-assembled on the vehicle platform and moved through linear translation for quick transportation and replacement of large props. The revolving stage allows multiple sets to be stacked in advance, with scene transitions achieved through rotation during performances. The lifting platform enables scene changes via vertical movement, while a double-layered lifting platform with sufficient spacing allows direct scene switching. The platform can also descend into a storage compartment to alter the stage setup. Additionally, the fishing rod mechanism can be adjusted for flexibility, while rigid scenery and background curtains can be positioned through vertical adjustments.

(2) Participation in performances

The stage curtain can control the rhythm of the performance by opening and closing the curtain. The aircraft, single-point crane, lifting platform, and actor lifting trolley can carry actors and props to move on the stage or achieve special forms of actors' entering and leaving the stage. The vehicle platform, revolving platform, and lifting platform can also move according to the plot and participate in the performance.

(3) Change of form

The lift platform and the chessboard type lift platform can form various steps on the stage, the false platform can change the size of the platform; the complex stage machinery can realize the whole stage surface conversion; the stage machinery can also change the shape of the theater audience, change the relationship between the audience and the performance, and realize the conversion of the theater function.

(4) Cooperation with other equipment

The false stage, lighting rod, lighting bridge, lighting cage, lighting bracket are all set up for the installation of lighting; the sound counter cover, sound insulation screen, the audience hall lifting ceiling, sound hanging device are all set up for the need of acoustics and electroacoustics.

(5) Some stage machinery has safety protection functions, such as fire curtain, smoke exhaust window, safety door, protective net, protective rail, etc.

(6) Some stage machinery is indirectly for the performance service, such as soft scenery library, drawing scenery lifting device, strong lifting platform, audience hall on-site adjustment lifting platform, scenery transportation lifting platform, etc.
